There are many benefits to creating garden paths, side paths, front paths and step stone paths at your home. Firstly, paths are very easy to install at home, especially if you choose a step stone pattern with space between the pavers (as opposed to a continuous, solid path). Step stones are not only DIY friendly, but they also look great, improving neglected spaces.
One of the most popular uses of concrete pavers for paths is the side path project. This is a problem area in many homes, and leads to wasted, underutilised space. In many homes, particularly newer homes in metropolitan areas, there is typically at least one narrow side of the house which gets a lot of shade and with little sun, this often means the grass doesn’t grow. Worse still, during winter dampness or after rain, this area can become a soggy side area. A path, either solid, or made from step stone pavers is a great way to reclaim these areas making the space usable and when decorated with stones, plants or mondo grass, it can also become a visual feature.
Moving to the front of the house, first impressions count. Pathways from the road or your driveway to the front door are very practical DIY projects, particularly if you have turf laid and take the same route to the door each day. This can lead to your grass area looking like a goat track – a very quick fix when using concrete pavers laid onto a wet bed sand and cement mix.
