Benefits of Concrete Pavers

Concrete masonry pavers strike the perfect balance between hardwearing durability and aesthetic appeal that you can be proud to lay in the most iconic landscaping projects. While there are many different paving and landscaping materials on the market, concrete masonry pavers stand out for their durability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal.

CONCRETE PAVERS FAQ
  • Are concrete pavers better than outdoor tiles?

Pavers and outdoor tiles can be used for similar projects and often, it is a matter of personal preference. The biggest difference between concrete pavers and tiles (or event natural stones) is the thickness, and therefore, the installation method that can be used.

Adbri Masonry concrete pavers are a minimum of 40mm thick meaning they can be laid onto a flexible base which is DIY friendly installation. Tiles and natural stone pavers are often under 20mm thick and are laid onto a concrete base, often meaning these products are not suitable for most intermediate level DIYer’s.

  • Can I use concrete pavers around pools?

Salt and chlorine can damage standard concrete pavers. Euro® pavers achieve a P5 slip rating and are saline and salt resistant, ideal for use around pools.

  • Can I use pavers on my driveway?

Concrete pavers can be used for driveways, but you will need to select a paver that is rated for light commercial traffic, and make sure the base is suitable for this purpose. Generally this will be a small format paver or a brick paver, and it will be a minimum of 50mm thick.

  • Are minor variations in concrete paver colours normal?

Yes, as a result of the natural raw materials used in concrete masonry, some variation between products is to be expected, If you have concerns about the variations in your product, please contact us on 1300 365 565.

  • Are concrete pavers salt resistant?

Salt (for example, from pools) can damage standard concrete pavers, which is why we recommend our Euro® range of pavers for around pools and in exposed coastal areas. Euro® pavers achieve a P5 slip rating and are saline and salt resistant.

  • What is efflorescence?

Efflorescence is a naturally occurring by-product of the concrete masonry manufacturing process. Paved areas regularly exposed to a damp environment can prolong the chemical reaction that causes efflorescence, making the appearance of the efflorescence worse. Although efflorescence can never fully be avoided, there are some tips to help you minimise the likelihood of it affecting your project. Find tips on cleaning and maintaining your pavers.
