ADBRI CONCRETE BRICKS HAVE WON AGAIN

We are excited to congratulate Freedman White for winning the Kevin Borland Masonry Award for their project Napier Street Apartments in the 2020 Think Brick Australia Awards.This stunning project used Adbri Masonry Concrete Architectural bricks to bring the design to life.

In their words: Project Overview from Freedman White

Napier Street is a collection of fourteen individual owner-occupied apartments that accommodate a variety of family types and living arrangements within a diversity of dwelling typologies and common areas. The project engenders a sense of community and social diversity. The building is punctuated by light-filled transparency with an irregular screening of perforated brickwork serving to break up the exterior, and greenery designed to cascade over time.

An unfolding sense of arrival takes cues from early modernist living, with each apartment enjoying dual-aspect cross-flow ventilation through a series of open-air pathways. Refined material details are employed to enhance the experience, marking a journey through lush external greenery and a calming flow from the front gate to the front door and beyond.

Award winning concrete bricks

The product featured in this project is Adbri’s Architectural Brick in the premium Ivory colour in both Smooth and Honed surface textures. These two textures were laid in three distinct bricklaying patterns; standard stretcher bond, hit-and-miss Flemish bond and a dimpled Flemish bond installation.

Adbri Masonry’s range of concrete bricks are all Australian made, using commercial grade raw materials and premium colour oxides to produce hard wearing and visually pleasing brick products. The range includes common bricks which are available in a plain grey colour and are perfect for building walls to render as well as an attractive Coloured Face Brick offering.

This year’s win marks the fourth consecutive year that Adbri Masonry concrete bricks have featured in winning designs in 2016, 2017 and 2019!
